Mizzou Moves to KMBZ Radio in Kansas City Market

July 26, 2006

Columbia, Mo. - Kansas City-area fans of the University of Missouri athletic program will be able to catch their beloved Tigers on one of the strongest stations in the area, News Radio 980 KMBZ. The Tigers will move to 980 AM in Kansas City prior to the 2006-07 season, from their previous home on 610 AM (KCSP).

The switch to news/talk giant KMBZ will make Mizzou the sole sports entity on the highly-rated station. Included in the Tiger programming lineup will be the play-by-play call of all pre-season, regular season and post-season football and men's basketball games. Additionally, Tiger Talk coaches shows with Head Football Coach Gary Pinkel and new Head Men's Basketball Coach Mike Anderson will air on the station.

"We are very pleased to make this move to KMBZ," said Laird Veatch, general manager of Mizzou Sports Properties, the multi-media rights holder for MU Athletics. "Kansas City is a very important market for the University and its athletic program, and it fits nicely that we will now be featured on the city's most recognized station for years to come," he said.
