It was a long weekend for us Tigers, but we came out of it ranked twelfth in the nation! Our team has been so consistent all year long, and we showed that again on Friday and Sunday. On Friday night we competed at home against the Centenary Ladies, and we swept all the event titles, all-around and the team title with a 195.575. On Sunday we traveled to Southeast Missouri State (SEMO) to compete in the Outback Invitational against SEMO, Centenary, and Ball State. Once we again we were number one on all four events, all around, and team with a 195.55.
This weekend was especially tough because it was like we were competing four times within two weekends since we had our Cat Classic meet the weekend before. The coaches were so proud of us after SEMO, and they knew that our bodies needed a break. So they've given us Monday and Tuesday off of practice! Hard to believe, I know!! But it's definitely needed, and I know all the girls appreciate the rest since we're heading into the most grueling part of our season.
After having Monday and Tuesday off, we'll practice hard on Wednesday and Thursday and then have a short practice on Friday before we board the bus to travel to Iowa City. We really need to pull out another great away meet so that we can improve our RQS and hopefully get back into the Top ten. We only have two more regular season meets left, and then it's time for Big 12's, spring break, and then Regionals! This season has gone by so fast; it feels like we just started competing yesterday! Especially for me. I sprained my ankle really bad on floor at our first practice back from winter break, and it's taken me this long to finally start feeling like I'm back to normal again. I didn't get back into the lineup until our meet against Oklahoma when I competed bars. And this weekend at SEMO I competed bars, and also exhibitioned beam, and floor for the first time this season. It was great to be back our there, but I'm sad it's taken pretty much the whole season to be healed.
If you haven't had a chance to make it to one our meets yet this year, be sure to be at Hearnes at 7 PM on March 17th for our Senior Meet. It will be the last time our three wonderful seniors compete at home for us, and we sure are going to miss them! But for now, wish us luck in Iowa when compete against the Hawkeyes on Saturday. Go get 'em Tigers!
