Missouri remains one of three schools (Texas, 3-0 and Texas A&M, 3-0) in the league with an unblemished Big 12 record. Baylor enters the series 2-2, earning wins over Texas Tech with one-run losses to No. 1/2 Texas and No. 15/16 Texas A&M.
This marks the 31st meeting between the Tigers and Bears. Missouri currently owns a 19-12 record in the all-time series dating back to the 1980 campaign. Last season, the two teams met on five ocassions, with Missouri taking only two wins, 9-2 and 10-4, in back-to-back games at the Big 12 Championship tournament, May 13 and 14. Missouri and Baylor are knotted at four wins a piece when playing at University Field over the past 10 years.
After earning wins over No. 15 Oklahoma in Norman last weekend Missouri looks to improve on its Big 12 record. The last time the Tigers swept a conference opening series came in 2004 and the last time Missouri earned four straight Big 12 wins also came in 2004 after Mizzou shutdown both Texas (on the road) and Oklahoma State (at home). Missouri's longest conference regular season win streak is eight victories in 1997. Big 12 Player of the Week Jen Bruck will likely return to the circle for Missouri. Bruck earned both wins over the Sooners last weekend and went 5-for-6 at the plate scoring four runs including the 22nd home run of her career.
Looking Ahead: The Tigers continue Big 12 play with a two-game series against No. 1/2 Texas in Austin, Texas beginning Saturday, April 8, at 1 p.m. (CST) with game two set to begin at 1 p.m. (CST) Sunday, April 9.
