COLUMBIA, Mo. - Freshman Kendra Melnychuk finished seventh on the 3-meter board at the 2006 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships, and junior Kim Massaro turned in a 15th-place finish in the same event.

"Having multiple women in the finals shows that our program is headed in the right direction," Mizzou diving coach James Sweeney said. "Kendra and Kim have worked really hard, and now they're showing it against some great competition."

Melnychuk's 12 dives on the day produced a score of 557.90, while Massaro's dozen attempts yielded 481.30 points. Tania Cagnotto of Houston won her second competition in as many days with a score of 624.70.

Zone diving action will conclude tomorrow at the Mizzou Aquatics Center with the women on the platform at 10 a.m. and the men following up at 12:30.
