Atlanta, Ga. - Ranked 18th in the nation, the Missouri softball team split its doubleheader with No. 24 Georgia Tech at Glenn Field in Atlanta, Ga., after winning game two, 8-5. Three Tigers launched home runs in game two, scoring all eight of Missouri's runs by the long ball.

Similar to game one, Missouri led 2-0 after the first inning after three-hole hitter Micaela Minner (Sanger, Texas) drew a walk and sophomore Amanda Renth (Mascoutah, Ill.) crushed Missouri's third home run of the season deep over the centerfield fence.

Georgia Tech pulled ahead by one run in the bottom of the fourth, scoring three runs off three hits, but the Tigers evened things up in the sixth frame as Renth sent her second home run of the game over the right field fence.

True freshman Megan Dennis (Liberty, Mo.) made her collegiate pitching debut in Missouri's second game against the Ramblin' Wreck. Dennis twirled five innings of work and fanned her first batter of the season in the bottom of the fifth inning. Sophomore Jen Bruck (St. Peters, Mo.) entered the game in the sixth inning, giving up only two hits and no runs. With the win, Bruck moved to 1-1 on the season.

With runners on first and second and two outs in the seventh, outfielder Minner ripped her 18th career home run deep over the right field fence to give Missouri a one run lead. Renth followed with a walk, bringing up third baseman Jaci Schuyler (Wichita, Kan.) who blasted Missouri's sixth home run of the day over the right center fence giving Missouri a three-run lead and the eventual win.

"It was really exciting to watch our girls battle back today in game two," Head Coach Ty Singleton said. "We have a potent offense that came through in the clutch but we're still learning."

Earlier in the day, Missouri suffered an 11-6 loss to Georgia Tech in game one.

Game three of the series against the Yellow Jackets is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (CST).
