BORDER SHOWDOWN `06 MOVES TO MIZZOU ARENA
The Mizzou women's basketball team (16-6, 6-4 Big 12) hosts archrival Kansas on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Border Showdown presented by the Midwest Ford Dealers.
After their loss on Wednesday at Iowa State, the Tigers are tied for fifth place in the Big 12 Conference, yet sit just a game out of second as the league standings remain compacted. Kansas comes into Columbia in 10th place in the Big 12 standings and has lost seven of its last nine games.
LAST TIME OUT: IOWA STATE 66, MIZZOU 60
Megan Ronhovde scored 20 points, and led four Cyclones in double figures, to bring Iowa State to a comeback 66-60 win in Big 12 Conference action Wednesday night at Hilton Coliseum.
SERIES VS. KANSAS
The series with Kansas is the oldest among schools that Missouri continues to compete against; Saturday's game will be the 68th meeting between the schools. The two schools differ on the all-time series record. Kansas has it at 36-32 in favor of the Jayhawks, while Missouri does not recognize a 1973 meeting before the Tiger program was recognized as a varsity sport at MU, putting the series at 35-32, Kansas.
The Tigers are 14-14 in Columbia against their archrivals, and have lost the last two at home. Mizzou ended KU's season last year with a 62-57 win in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament. It marked the first-ever meeting in Kansas City between the schools.
SCOUTING THE JAYHAWKS
Senior forward Crystal Kemp is third in the Big 12 in scoring at 19.2 points per game, and is eighth in the league in rebounding at 8.2 rpg. She is one of three Jayhawks scoring in double figures for the season, joined by senior guards Erica Hallman (13.5 ppg) and Kaylee Brown (12.9 ppg).
