The National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (NCBWA) has picked Mizzou 16th in its preseason poll. The Tigers finished the 2005 season ranked No. 25 in the final NCBWA poll.
Missouri, who was 40-23 a year ago and reached the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight season, joins three other Big 12 Conference teams in the poll. Texas is at the top of the poll, while Nebraska is No. 5 and Oklahoma is No. 28. Baylor, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech all received votes.
The Tigers have been ranked 16th or higher in the preseason polls, with the highest being a No. 10 ranking by Baseball America.
Mizzou will open up the 2006 season on Feb. 9 against East Tennessee Sate in Charleston, S.C. The home opener is on March 1 against Illinois State at 4 p.m. Taylor Stadium.
