TUCSON-Ariz.-- The Tiger soccer team kicked off the 10th season of soccer at Missouri falling to No. 25 Arizona, 2-0 on Friday night in Tucson, Ariz. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for Mizzou in season openers.

After a scoreless 32 minutes of play, Arizona put back-to-back goals on the board in a span of just under a minute as senior Mallory Miller scored twice for the Wildcats. The first goal came 32:31 into the first half and the second followed fifty-four seconds later. Miller had seven of Arizona's 17 shots in the game, five of which were shots on goal. Her two goals would be the only two goals of the game.

Miller's first goal came off of a header won by the Wildcats in the midfield that went directly to senior Nikki David, who was allowed time to turn and play a ball through the Tigers defense to Miller for first-time shot. Arizona didn't have to wait long for their next opportunity, as their second goal after some clever dribbling allowed junior Erin Bevacqua to get free on the left flank and into the Mizzou 18-yard box where she slotted a ball back to Miller for her second goal of the game.

The two teams were even in shots in the first half, with each team getting off eight shots. Although Mizzou would step up their pressure in the second half by changing formations to a 3-4-3, they could only manage three shots.

Making their first career appearances for MU on Friday night were sophomore Anne Baxter and freshmen Mo Redmond, Janelle Cordia, Carolina Pohl, Kat Tarr and Ashley Hamblin.

The Tigers will face California at Noon PT (2 p.m. CT) on Sunday in Berkeley, Calif. They open up their home schedule next weekend with the Big 12/Big Ten Challenge. MU will host Indiana at 7 p.m. on Friday at Walton Stadium, before hosting Purdue at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
