
Cal State-Fullerton Ends Mizzou's Season

FULLERTON, Calif. - - Mizzou's season came to an end as Cal State-Fullerton defeated the Tigers 8-6 in NCAA Regional action in Fullerton, Calif. on Sunday. MU finishes the year 40-23, its best record since 1991.
The Tigers, who entered Sunday 38-0 when leading after eight innings, allowed three runs to score in the top of the ninth inning giving up a lead for the first time this year.
With MU leading 6-5, Justin Turner led off the ninth with a single and Sergio Pedroza followed with a two-run home run to give the Titans the lead. CSUF added an insurance run when Brett Pill scored on a squeeze play bunt by Jon Wilhite.
Mizzou loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth inning, but a diving catch by Pedroza in right field on a ball hit by freshman Jacob Priday closed out the game, giving the Titans the win and ending the MU season.
Missouri, the designated home team on Sunday, fell behind as Cal State-Fullerton scored a run in the top of the first inning. Junior Derek Chambers tied the game in the bottom of the first inning, connecting on a solo home run. The homer was the third of the season for Chambers and extended his hitting streak to 13 games, the longest by any Tiger this year.
Sophomore John McKee had a three-hit game on Sunday, his third game with three hits in his career. Included in the three hits were two home runs to take his season total to seven. The first came in the fourth inning after freshman Jacob Priday led off with a double and scored when sophomore Hunter Mense followed with a double of his own. McKee followed with his eighth career home run, a two-run shot to tie the score of five.
McKee's second home run was a solo shot in the sixth to give Mizzou its first lead of the game at 6-5. McKee finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI. The three-RBI game ties his career high.
