COLUMBIA, Mo. - - Southwest Missouri State defeated Missouri 10-6 on Tuesday night at Taylor Stadium to sweep to season series between the two teams. Last Tuesday, SMS took a 2-1 win over the Tigers. MU is now 31-14 on the season.
SMS (15-28) got on the board first with a run in the top of the third and added two more in the fourth inning.
The Tigers cut the lead to two with a run in the fifth inning, as junior Trevor Helms scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Derek Chambers.
Southwest Missouri State built an 8-1 lead with a five-run sixth inning. The Bears had three hits and were aided by four walks and a Tiger error in the inning.
Mizzou scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth as redshirt freshman Dan Pietroburgo tripled to rightfield to drive in freshman Jacob Priday, who had reached on a single to lead off the inning. Pietroburgo would then score on a ground out.
After SMS scored one in the top of the eighth inning, MU put one across the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning and scored two in the ninth, but it was not enough to catch the Bears.

Junior Zane Taylor had three of MU's eight hits on the night, finishing 3-for-4 at the plate.
