
Missouri Picks Up Tenth Victory of the Season

COLUMBIA, Mo.-- - The Mizzou baseball team moved to 10-4 on the season with a 15-2 win over Illinois State on Wednesday at Taylor Stadium. The Tigers scored in double digits for the eighth time in 13 games this season.
Missouri got the scoring started in the bottom of the second inning scoring four runs on a pair of hits and an error. Sophomores Gary Arndt and Trevor Helms each had RBI hits in the inning to give the Tigers the early 4-0 lead.
MU would add two more runs in the bottom of the third inning on a two-run single by freshman Jacob Priday. Priday was 2-for-5 with four RBI on the day to extend his hitting streak to eight games. The streak is the longest by any Tiger this season.
The Tigers would make it a 10-0 lead with four more runs in the fourth inning, three of the runs coming on a three-run homer by junior James Boone. The home run was Boone's third of the season and extended his hitting streak to six games.
After not getting a run in the fifth, its first scoreless inning since the first, Mizzou scored three runs on just one hit in the bottom of the sixth. It would add two more runs in the seventh.
Illinois State ( 4-6) would get on the board with a pair of runs in the top of the eighth inning.
Junior Doug Mathis started for MU on the mound and recorded his first win as a Tiger. He went five scoreless innings, allowing just three runs and striking out four.
Missouri hosts Youngtown State for a three-game series this weekend at Taylor Stadium with game one starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Game two of the series is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday with the final game of the series at 4 p.m. on Monday.
