Columbia, Mo. - Missouri softball Head Coach Ty Singleton announced today that four women have signed a national letter of intent for the upcoming 2007 season. Jana Hainey (Raymore, Mo.), Alaina Jacobson (Crocker, Mo.), Meredith Nash (Peculiar, Mo.) and Michaele Vock (Morrison, Ill), will begin their collegiate careers next fall at the University of Missouri providing providing strength in various areas of the field.
"The Tiger softball family is extremely happy that these women have chosen to make Missouri their home for their collegiate careers," Singleton said. "Each of these individuals bring such a high level of personal character and commitment to excellence with them. It will be fun to watch them over the next four years and see what we can all achieve together."
One of two signees to attend Raymore-Peculiar High School, Hainey is a left-handed pitcher and plays club softball for the Kansas City Lasers, coached by Kirt Staton.
Also expected to see time on the mound for Missouri is senior right-handed pitcher Jacobson, a member of the Crocker High School team led by Head Coach Steve Scholfield. Jacobson has played club ball with the Missouri Pride and most recently with the St. Louis Sluggers.
"Jana and Alaina will really round out our pitching staff right away and give us a nice variety of looks in the circle," Singleton said.
Nash, a senior member of the Raymore-Peculiar high school team has played softball for Coach Bruce Sharp and club ball with the Kansas City Extreme Gold for Coach Paul Caccavo.
The only member of this year's signing class to hail from out-of-state, Vock is a three-sport athlete (basketball, track and softball) at Morrison High School and plays shortstop and in the outfield under the direction of Head Coach Tammy Deter. Vock is a member of the Harland Havoc and Elite Softball club teams.
"Michaele and Meredith bring us even more versatility with nice athleticism to our offense and to our defense." Singleton said.
