Tigers Celebrate Season With Annual Banquet

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri women's soccer team celebrated their 2005 campaign with their annual banquet on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Clinton Club in Mizzou Arena. The evening was highlighted with five end of season awards, a highlight video and a ball presented to head coach Bryan Blitz to commemorate the program's 100th victory.

The dynamic duo of senior forwards Jennifer Nobis and Amber Swinehart were named the Co-Offensive Players of the Year after career seasons in 2005. Nobis set a new Missouri single-season record with 14 assists to finish sixth in the nation in assists per game. She also tallied eight goals to finish the year with a team-high 30 points. Etching her name all over the Mizzou recordbook, Nobis concludes her four years tied for second in program history in goals (32) and third in points (92) and assists (28).

Swinehart led the squad with 12 goals, including six game-winners in 2005, while also adding two assists on the year. Recording the fifth-highest season goal total in Missouri history, Swinehart finishes her career tied for second in games played in a Tiger uniform (84).

Picking up two awards on the night, senior forward Erica Pusch earned Defensive Player of the Year and the Strength and Conditioning Award, presented by strength and conditioning coach Antwan Floyd. Pusch solidified her status as one of the Big 12 Conference's elite defenders while contributing a goal and six assists on the offensive end. Pusch started 64 consecutive games to end her career dating back to the first game of her sophomore season to put her fifth on the Tigers career starts list with 76.

Freshman midfielder Mo Redmond took home Newcomer of the Year honors while freshman forward Carolina Pohl was named the Most Improved Player of the Year. Redmond finished fourth on the team with nine points on four goals and one assist in her freshman campaign. She was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Sept. 13 after notching five points in a two game span. Seeing action in 18 games with two starts, Pohl recorded one goal and two assists in 2005.

Missouri's head coach since the school began women's soccer in 1996, Blitz lead the Tigers to the 100th win in program history with a 3-0 defeat of Oklahoma State on Oct. 9.
