Post-Game Quotes

Missouri Head Coach Quin Snyder
On out rebounding Missouri Southern...
"Well Marshall Brown led the charge with rebounding. It is something I thought was a weakness on our team. I thought our bench certainly helped the team with rebounding. We have a few guys still finding their way around out there, but we are getting there."
On the team's intensity...
"Good to see that, we showed our youth in the second half with our intensity. We took them out of their offense in the first half, but they were able to run a little in the second half. Again, intensity is the key to us being successful as a team."
On Marshall Brown and Jimmy McKinney leading the scoring...
"It was good to see Jimmy McKinney and Marshall Brown going to the hole. Both Jimmy and Marshall took things to the hole. In the second I thought we settled for threes. I mentioned that to the team in a timeout and they started to post the ball up and take it to the hole. After that we started going to the line a little more."
Missouri player quotes
On the second-half performance:
"We got a little too comfortable and started shooting a lot of three's, but by the ten minute mark we didn't shoot as many. Then we started getting in the lane and getting what we wanted."
On helping Leo Lyons:
"I play hard with him in practice, but more than anything I'm trying to teach him what to be prepared for. I went through it last year. The biggest thing I can do now is just tell him what to expect."
On the difference between the two halves:
"When your shots aren't falling in the offense we have to find different sparks and different things to get our team going. I felt that a lot of the guys legs were tired and heavy so we just kind of settled for the shot. During the last ten minutes of the half I think we really attacked the basket and put the pressure on them."
On taking better shots:
"Coach told us to get to the line and put some pressure on the defense like we did in the first half. We started relying on the three-point shot and that's something that he didn't want us to get into. So as players we need to realize that and find good shots for each other."
On improvements from game 1 to game 2:
"We did a really good job defending and disrupting their offense. I think we have to continue to build on that."
On what they're learned from the exhibition games:
"I think we have learned a lot from these two games. I'm just ready to play when it counts. I'm ready to start off the regular season."
Missouri Southern Head Coach Robert Corn
On Missouri Southern's second half effort:
"What I told them in the locker room after the game was, as disappointed as we were the way we played the first half, we were just that much proud the way we competed the second half. We just started competing a little bit better, I think once we got rid of the deer in the headlight look we did some decent things and we were able to execute our offense a little bit better, we were stronger with the basketball."
On what this game means to a Division II program:
"Hopefully we can build on what we did in the last 20 minutes, and that's what we talked about in the locker room was build on how we played the 20 minutes we realize that is the way we have to play for 40 minutes."
On playing at Mizzou Arena:
"We're very appreciative of the opportunity to be here. I know there is a lot of Division II programs that would love to be here so we're very appreciative of Coach Snyder and his staff for allowing us the opportunity to come and play"
