Columbia, Mo. - Senior Missouri men's cross country runner Matt Noonan (Baldwin City, Kan.) took 90th at today's 67th annual NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. Competing on the 10K Wabash Family Sports Center Course, Noonan finished in 30:54.21 becoming the first Tiger in five years to crack the top-100 and first since 1977 to complete the race in just over 30 minutes. In team competition, Wisconsin took first in the men's race with 37 points, while Stanford earned the women's title with 146 points.

Missouri's sole representative at the 2005 Championships, Noonan was among 253 individuals to race in today's men's competition and one of 38 at-large qualifiers invited to compete. This marked Noonan's first NCAA Championship race and was the second consecutive year in which a Tiger athlete from the men's team was invited to compete. Noonan's third-place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships Nov. 12, in Iowa City, Iowa was enough to earn an at-large bid to the Championship event.

The last Missouri runner to finish the 10K NCAA Championship race in just over 30 minutes was Brad Hawthorne who finished 88th in 30:34.60 (1977).
