Mizzou Finishes Tied for Eighth at Las Vegas Showdown

HENDERSON, Nev. - - The University of Missouri Women's Golf team closed the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown with its best round of the tournament, recording a 292 final round score to finish tied for eighth with a three-day total of 892.
Junior Stephanie Wavro carded her best round of the fall with a one-under-par 71 on Wednesday, which matches her career-best. Wavro opened her third round with birdies on two of her first three holes and made two more birdies later in the round. She finished the tournament in a tie for 24th place with a 54-hole total of 220, which is a new career best for Wavro.
Senior Denise Munzlinger was one-over par on Wednesday, recording a final round 73 and finishing with a three-day total of 223, good for a tie for 35th place. Sophomore Madde Augustsson turned in her best final round of the fall with a 74 and finished tied for 38th with a final total of 224.
Senior Kelli Strubinger finished in a tie for 43rd place with a 54-hole score of 225 (77-74-74) and freshman Chelsea Schriewer recorded her third-straight 77 on Wednesday to place in a tie for 55th place with a three-round score of 231.
No. 2 ranked UCLA ran away with the tournament, which featured one of the strongest fields of the year as nine of the 16 teams were ranked in the top 30. The Bruins were 24-under par and finished 27 shots ahead of second place Kent State. No. 29 Mizzou's 892 score was its second best round of the fall. The Tigers finished in a tie with Oregon and Notre Dame for the eighth position.
Missouri will conclude the fall schedule with the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Tournament on Nov. 11-13 at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
