Tiger Men Head Into the Thanksgiving Holiday Among Nation's Top 25

Nov. 18, 2005

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou men's swimming and diving found itself in the No. 24 in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association (CSCAA) poll.

The Tigers debuted in the No. 20 spot in the polls in late October - the first ranking in the 13-year tenure of head coach Brian Hoffer. Due to an idle period in their schedule, they dropped to No. 24 in the Nov. 3 poll, and stood firm in that spot when the latest poll came out on Nov. 17.

This weekend, both the Mizzou men and women are in West Lafayette, Ind., for the Purdue Invite. The field contains several teams that earned spots in most recent poll. On the men's side, Florida is No. 7, Purdue is No. 15 and Northwestern is No. 18. The Tiger women will be in the water against No. 4 Florida, No. 14 Purdue and No. 17 Tennessee.

Auburn retained the top spot in the men's poll and Georgia continues to hold a slim lead over Auburn for the No. 1 spot on the women's side.

The CSCAA Dual Meet Poll is an indication of a team's ability to win dual meets during the season and is not a predictor of any team's end-of-the-season placement at the NCAA Championships--although for most of the ranked teams there is a high correlation between their dual meet strength and the school's ability to score at the championship meets in March.
