COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Tigers earned the 100th win in Missouri soccer history with a 3-0 defeat of Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon at Walton Stadium. In the program's 10 year history, all behind the helm of current head coach Bryan Blitz, the Tigers have a combined record of 100-94-9 (.515 winning percentage).

In a battle of two physical teams, Missouri (7-4-3, 2-2-2) and Oklahoma State (9-3-2, 2-3-0) combined for 40 total fouls, one red card, five yellow cards and one penalty kick in the game. The Cowgirls played almost sixty minutes of the contest down a player, as Jesyca Rosholt, Oklahoma State's leading goal scorer, was awarded a red card in the 32nd minute of play.

"I didn't even know about (the 100th win)," said Blitz. "I'm happy for the university. I'm more happy with the win today than the 100th win but I think it's a tribute to the players we've had in the last 10 years."

The hard play started from the opening whistle, as senior Erica Pusch was brought down in the box for a Tiger penalty kick in the 6th minute. Freshman Mo Redmond stepped up for the penalty and sent her shot past the Cowgirl keeper for a quick 1-0 Missouri advantage and Redmond's fourth goal of the season.

Oklahoma State nearly got on the scoreboard in the 21st minute after Tiger sophomore keeper Laura Buehrig left the goal open after punching out a free kick. Jamie Markaverich grabbed the ball for the Cowgirls but her wide open shot from the right post flew wide into the side netting to preserve the 1-0 Tiger lead.

In the 36th minute, the Cowgirls looked poised to score again when Angelika Feldbacher dribbled into the box and fired a shot. Buehrig made the initial save and then made a sprawling stop from the ground after Feldbacher gathered her own rebound.

The Cowgirls opened the second half in control and earned three corner kicks in the first nine minutes but could not find the back of the net.

Still ahead 1-0 in the 85th minute, senior Jennifer Nobis dribbled to the endline and sent a crisp pass across the goal face that junior Aria Hudetz easily one-timed into the net. Three minutes later, the Tigers locked up their 100th victory as freshman Ashley Hamblin fed senior Amber Swinehart a ball that Swinehart knocked past the Cowgirl keeper for a 3-0 Missouri lead. Swinehart and Hudetz now have seven and five goals on the season, respectively.

"(Oklahoma State) is a great team and hung with us all the way to the end," said Blitz. "Anytime you score late it helps put their head down and takes energy out of them."

The shutout marks the sixth for the Tigers this season and the fourth for Buehrig, who now has six in her short career. Buehrig also recorded three saves in the game and Missouri outshot Oklahoma State 17-11 on the afternoon.

Missouri next travels to Boulder, Colo. for a 4:00 p.m. CST contest against Colorado on Friday, Oct. 14 before heading to Lubbock, Texas as the Tigers face Texas Tech at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16. Mizzou then returns home the following weekend for games against Texas and non-conference opponent Colorado College.
