Missouri Cross Country Teams Earns Academic Honors

Columbia, Mo. - Fourteen members of the Missouri cross country program were named to the Academic All-Big 12 teams as announced today by the conference office. Four Tiger men and eight women received first-team recognition and were among 110 honorees.

Seven of these individuals have now earned multiple All-Big 12 academic honors.

Seniors Colten Green (Roach, Mo.), Rem Moll (Tulsa, Okla.) Neville Miller (Sand Springs, Okla.), Tim Ross (Alto, Mich.), Amanda Bales (Bettendorf, Iowa), Kristin Hansen (Milford, Iowa), Valerie Lauver (Allen, Texas) and Ashley Patten (Clarkston, Mich.) junior Brian Graybill (Liberty, Mo.) and sophomores Kasey Kimball (Eureka, Mo.), Summer Ownes (Dix, Ill.), Carolyn Rauen (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Maddie Schueler (Louisville, Ky.) received first team nods, while senior Matt Noonan (Baldwin City, Kan.) was named to the second team.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 grade-point average or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet al the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

The men's cross country academic all-league squad consisted of 37 first team members combined with 11 on the second team, while the women had 51 first team recipients and 11 student-athletes on the second team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 GPA and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

The Missouri cross country team will travel to Waco, Texas, for the 10th annual Big 12 Championships hosted by Baylor on the Bear Run Cross Country Course. The men's 8K race will begin at 10 a.m. (CT) with the women's 6K set for an 11 a.m. start.
