Columbia, Mo. - University of Missouri junior defensive tackle C.J. Mosley has decided to forego his final year of eligibility and enter the 2005 NFL Draft. After initially deciding to return for his senior season, Mosley recently reconsidered, and has signed a contract with National Sports Agency out of St. Louis, Mo. Signing with the agency effectively ends his collegiate eligibility.
Mosley was a first-team All-Big 12 selection by the Associated Press in 2004, as he was a lynchpin on a Tiger defense that ranked second in the league and 14th nationally in total yardage allowed (301.36 per game). Mosley helped Mizzou's defense become one of the nation's most improved, as he registered 61 tackles on the year, including 14.0 tackles for loss and 6.5 quarterback sacks. He added a team-best 12 quarterback pressures on the year, and recovered two fumbles, and was named the team's defensive lineman of the year.
"We had hoped to have C.J. back with us for another year, but certainly will be supportive of him as he goes through this process," said MU Head Coach Gary Pinkel. "C.J. is a high-level player, and I know that he has a great opportunity in front of him. It was a tough decision for him, and I know he went back and forth quite a bit before making this final choice," said Pinkel.
