COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri swimming and diving teams will hold its annual Black and Gold meet Saturday, October 1, at 10 a.m. in the Mizzou Aquatics Center. The meet will mark the first time the teams have entered the water in their brand-new facility in a racing capacity.
The meet also provides the 25 Tiger freshmen with their first taste of collegiate racing, as well as gives the team's veterans an opportunity to hone their racing skills before entering season competition.
The Gold team, led by current Tigers Brandon Lee and Liz Schoborg, took last year's meet by a score of 243.50-198.50.
The schedule of events for the Black and Gold meet is as follows: 200 Medley Relay (w/m), 500 Freestyle (w/m), 200 Freestyle (w/m), 50 Freestyle (w/m), 1-m Diving (w/m), 200 Individual Medley (w/m), 100 Butterfly (w/m), 100 Freestyle (w/m), 100 Backstroke (w/m), 3-m Diving (w/m), 100 Breaststroke (w/m), 400 Freestyle Relay (w/m).
Saturday's meet is a tune-up for both sides of the Tiger program, as it will host the first-ever Show-Me-Showdown one week later, on Oct. 8, when in-state foes Saint Louis, Missouri State, Truman State, Missouri-Rolla, Drury and Washington University-St. Louis come to town.
