Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri softball team will travel to St. Louis, Saturday, Sept. 24, to participate in the seventh annual Wheelchair Softball Exhibition Contest against the St. Louis Wheelchair Athletic Association beginning at noon on Spirit Field at Spanish Lake. Spirit Field, a wheelchair-accessible court, opened in 2002 and was funded by the St. Louis Cardinals.
"We truly enjoy this annual event," Missouri Head Softball Coach Ty Singleton said. Jerry Hitzhusen (Missouri Associate Professor In Recreation & Park Administration) does a fantastic job of organizing everything and we're grateful to Jerry for putting everything together."
The Tigers closed out the 2005 campaign ranked 20th in the nation with a 44-15 record. Competing in post-season action, Missouri advanced to their second consecutive Big 12 Championship game and third straight NCAA Regional tournament appearance.
