Columbia, Mo. - Columbia-area fans of the University of Missouri athletic program will be able to catch their beloved Tigers on the radio and television for years to come, thanks to recently extended partnerships with Cumulus Broadcasting and KOMU-TV (NBC), as announced today by Laird Veatch, general manager of Mizzou Sports Properties.
Cumulus will continue to be the home to Mizzou Athletics, as its stations consisting of Columbia's KFRU (1400 AM) and KBXR (102.3 FM) and Jefferson City's KLIK (1240 AM) and KJMO (104.1 FM) will carry MU football and men's basketball games, as well as popular radio talk shows such as "Tiger Talk." Additionally, KFRU and KLIK will air the "Mike Alden Show."
"KFRU has provided coverage of the MU Tigers since it went on the air in Columbia," said Scott Boltz, general manager of Cumulus Broadcasting for Columbia and Jefferson City. "Starting in 1926 and with our nearly 80 years of coverage, we naturally cherish our relationship with the University of Missouri and its athletic programs. We're extremely proud to renew our relationship with MSP for the football and the basketball programs. There is no better partnership for us than the Tigers on KFRU and KBXR in Columbia and KLIK and KJMO in Jefferson City," he said.
On the television side, Mizzou will continue its long-standing partnership with KOMU for shows such as "This Week in Mizzou Football," and "This Week in Mizzou Basketball," in addition to broadcasts of most men's basketball games shown as part of the Mizzou Sports Network. Additionally, KOMU will partner with the University to provide live content and special features that fans will be able to access on MU's new "Mizzou All-Access," a subscription video feature on www.mutigers.com that will give fans exclusive live game video, features, interviews, coaches' shows and more.
"We are exceptionally pleased with the opportunity to expand our partnership with MSP," said Marty Siddall, general manager of KOMU. "Our multi-media collaboration will certainly raise the bar for those interested in following every aspect of the Mizzou sports scene," he said.
Both agreements are for five years. For full listings of all MU television and radio shows, please visit the official website of Mizzou Athletics, at www.mutigers.com.
