CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Jason Schultz made a 20-foot birdie putt on the sixth playoff hole to beat Joe Daley and earn his first career win at the Nationwide Tour's Chattanooga Classic on Sunday.
The 31-year-old Schultz rallied from five strokes back with birdies on three of his last five holes in regulation for a 5-under 67. He tied Daley (66), Scott Weatherly (64) and Jerry Smith (65) at 22-under 266 at the Black Creek Club, setting up the 10th four-man playoff in tour history.
After Smith and Weatherly were eliminated, Schultz and Daley alternated between Nos. 9 and 18, swapping pars until the former Missouri star rolled in a birdie putt on the sixth extra hole and Daley missed a 12-footer to tie.
``I figured I had to make mine,'' said Schultz, who won $81,000 and moved to No. 6 on the money list. ``I hit some good putts on the previous three or four holes and he got a good look at the line.
``I can't tell you how excited I am about this. This is the first big tournament I've ever won. I've been playing so well for so long. I've been putting myself in these situations more this year. You always want to know how you're going to do when it comes down to it.''
The 44-year-old Daley was looking for his first win since the 1997 Louisiana Open.
