History in the making

Columbia, Mo. - Mizzou officials will announce a concert date for a major recording artist that is scheduled to come to Columbia and perform in the new Arena at Mizzou Sports Park later this year. A press conference will be held today, Wednesday, September 15th at 11a.m. at the Hearnes Center: Black and Gold Room 317, to make this very special announcement.

The University of Missouri's new basketball arena is currently under construction south of the Hearnes Center. The Arena is a $75 million project, the largest construction project in the history of the University of Missouri. It is scheduled for completion in October, 2004, in time for the 2004-2005 basketball season and concerts.

The Arena was designed to offer students and fans comfortable seating and a state-of-the-art spectator experience, including exceptionally well-developed sight lines from every seat in the house. When completed, it will be the best on-campus college basketball facility in the nation. It will have a capacity of over 15,000 and will feature private suites and club seats.
