Micaela Minner, Missouri
On outcome of game against Stanford
"I'm shocked, I can't believe it. I can't believe we lost."
Ty Singleton, Missouri Head Coach
On result of championship game
"I am very proud of this team. I felt like we played well. A couple of things could have changed the result. The ball Heather (Kunkel) hit to center field had gone a couple feet one way or the other we would have scored in that situation. It was fun to play ball against Stanford, they're a very good club."
On loss to Stanford
"It is hard to be disappointed. I was disappointed with the loss, but I have a great sense of accomplishment with this team and with how they have grown and how they've improved."
On future of the program
"To our seniors we'll miss them. To our returns we'll look forward to a special year next year."
On Stanford's homerun
"Erin (Kalka) threw the ball where we wanted it. Leah's (Nelson) strong enough that she got on top of it and hit the ball out. She did a nice job on a great pitch."
On a successful 2005 season
"This has been one of my most enjoyable years of coaching. I will miss this team very much. I won't be able to put closure on it today. There is tremendous emotion on a day like today."
On Missouri players
"This is a really special team. They are just quality people and good citizens."
John Rittman, Stanford Head Coach
On winning regional championship
"Somebody had to lose this regional and it's a shame, because Missouri has a great ball club. They played an outstanding game here today."
On pitcher Becky McCullough
"We battled a lot this year and to have a freshman pitcher give up a two run homerun to one of their best hitters in the first inning then hold her composure and come back the way she did is very impressive. I'm very proud of Becky (McCullough) for that."
On Stanford's fielding errors
"Uncharacteristically we made a few blunders today. We were very lucky to escape with the win."
On feelings over championship
"All in all I'm very proud of this team. We're going to enjoy our victory today. This is the first time we've ever won a regional on the road. So it's huge for our program to get that monkey off our back."
