Tiger Trio Honored at Annual Missouri Tap Day

April 29, 2005

Columbia, Mo. -- Recognizing the exemplary performance of students in academic and extracurricular arenas, three Mizzou student-athletes were honored at the University of Missouri's 78th Annual Tap Day. Receiving recognition were Mizzou track and field member Rem Moll and Tiger soccer players Erica Pusch and Kira Reyes.

Recognizing exceptional student leaders, current members of the six honorary organizations--LSV, Mortar Board, Mystical Seven, Omicron Delta Kappa, QEBH and the Rollins Society--select and "tap" their new inductees into the societies. Students are selected based on scholastic, leadership and service achievements. Each honorary also "taps" faculty and/or staff members whom they feel have contributed significantly to the experience of students at MU.

Rem Moll
Missouri track and field co-captain Rem Moll is a two-time All-Big 12 performer for the Tigers. A native of Tulsa, Okla., Moll won USATF Junior All-American honors in 2002 for a fifth-place national finish in the 800-meter run. Moll also contributed marketably to the 2004 Tiger cross country season, scoring big points for the team at both the Big 12 Championships and the NCAA Midwest Regional. A CoSIDA Academic All-American, Moll wants to be a college professor and a researcher in wildlife biology. He was tapped into the QEBH.

Erica Pusch
Starting each of the Tigers' 20 games in the backfield this season, Erica Pusch tallied three points against Oklahoma scoring the game-tying assist and the game-winning goal. Dishing an assist to aide Nobis score against #9 Kansas, the defender tied for ninth on the team owning four points. On her way to receiving a tap from the Mystical Seven, Pusch picked up her second consecutive first team academic All-Big 12 honor.

Kira Reyes
Playing in her first Mizzou game, Kira Reyes led the Tigers to an amazing upset victory over #6 Texas A&M. Unable to replace a red carded player, Missouri brought in the backup keeper to defend the remaining 84 minutes with just nine field players. Despite outshooting the Tigers 16-to-5 in the game, Mizzou kept the Aggies to just seven shots on goal. Shining in the Mizzou goalbox, Reyes anchored the Tigers making six saves to earn her first collegiate victory. Reyes was tapped into the Mortar Board.
