Strubinger and Boone Earn Student-Athlete Honors

Columbia, Mo. - Juniors Kelli Strubinger (women's golf) and James Boone (baseball) were named this week's Lathrop & Gage Student-Athletes of the Week. Both student-athlete's hold above a 3.0 grade-point average, exhibit strength in their respective sports and commit themselves to helping the surrounding community.

Strubinger is a native of St. Charles, Mo., and is majoring in international business. Strong in the classroom, she holds a 3.96 grade-point average, Strubinger also dominates on the course. Most recently, Strubinger shot a hole-in-one at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic, April 10, in Norman, Okla. The sixth hole shot on the par three was the first of her career. Strubinger is a member of Headstart, the St. Charles Food Pantry and the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) Food Drive.

A native of Clinton, Okla., Boone is an outfielder on the 13th ranked Missouri baseball team. Boone, a business major, holds a 3.21 grade-point average and has been named Big 12 Player of the Week and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Player of the Week. With a .382 batting average, Boone has powered four home runs, four triples and nine doubles this season. Boone is an active member of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters and Home Run For Kids programs.

The Missouri baseball team will take on Southeast Missouri State in a Wednesday, April 13, game beginning at 6 p.m. at Taylor Stadium, while the 16th ranked women's golf team will travel to the Big 12 Championships, April 22-24 in Austin, Texas.
