Columbia Mo., -The #57 Missouri tennis team concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule when it travels to Washington D.C., for matches with George Washington and American on Sun., March 20. The Tigers square off against American at 9:00 a.m., and face George Washington at 3:00 p.m.
The Tigers look to maintain the momentum they picked up after defeating Eastern Illinois and Air Force last weekend. The victories extend Missouri's home win record to 9-0 in the Green Tennis Center and places the Tigers fourth in Big 12 conference standings behind Baylor, Texas and Nebraska.
Missouri continues to be bolstered by the depth of its lineup, with several players having success at various positions. Sophomore Yelena Olshanskaya has added depth at No. 1 singles picking up a straight set victory over Eastern Illinois's Sandra Sasidiharan 6-2, 6-2, while newcomer Lubica Nadasska saw success at No. 3 singles with a victory over the Panther's Madian Mambetova 6-4, 7-5.
Highlighting in doubles play is the sophomore tandem of Olshaskaya and Erika Josbena. Playing at the No. 1 spot, the pair defeated Eastern Illinois's Sasidharan and Ashley Glover, 8-6. The duo of Katka Sevcikova and Carolyn Kramer also continue to bolster the Tigers, picking up a straight set victory over Air Force to improve their record to 7-2 on the season.
Missouri returns to the Green Tennis Center on Sun., April 3 when it hosts Big 12 Conference foe Texas A&M. The match is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. All Missouri tennis matches are open to the public.
