February 23, 2005
So I lied last time and said I would write more often, but February was a busy month too. We had all four of our conference duals and two non-conference duals as well. We started out the month in the state of Oklahoma. We did a back to back dual on Friday night with OSU and Saturday afternoon at OU. On Friday night, I dropped my first official match of the season to Chris Pendelton. The score was 4-3, but I felt better about this match more so than the last one. The team also lost, only Tyron, Brad, and Jeff won their matches.
The next day we came back against Oklahoma. I beat #8 EK Waldhaus 8-4, but the team lost 18-14. It was another tough dual, but we wrestled hard. After that, we got a good week of training in before the match with Iowa State. We wrestled Iowa State really tough, and we split the dual matches 5-5, but lost on bonus points. The next dual was really quick after that. We wrestled UTC on Wednesday before the state tournament. We had a great crowd for the match (1500 fans) and won fairly easily. I pinned my guy quick. Now we are having two really good weeks of training, before we have to peak for the Big Xii Conference and National tournaments.
I got to watch a lot of the Missouri state HS tournament, because it was in the Hearnes Center. I think the state of Missouri has a lot of talented kids for us to recruit in the next few years, so I'm pretty excited about that. The only things left on our schedule are Big XII's and NCAAs. Make sure you guys come out to support the team.
GO TIGERS!
