Go Black! Go Gold! Go PINK!
Pink, you say? Yes, pink; a color that I used to think was too girly for me to wear, but now has a special meaning to me. This past weekend we had our first ever "Pink Out" Meet. Our athletic department partnered with the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center to support finding a cure for breast cancer. We even got to wear pink leos! It was so much fun to finally have a home meet, and this event made it even more exciting. We had a great turnout of about 1,700 fans, which in turn meant we raised over $1,500 for the fund.

Before the meet began, we circled up as a team and Rob gave us a quick pep talk. We decided that although many of us had been struggling with injuries and soreness, we would use the cancer survivors in the audience to help motivate us. After we marched out, four cancer survivors were recognized onstage with a standing ovation and a lot of tears.

We started on vault which went very well. We took the momentum from vault over to bars. Bars has definitely been our problem event this year, but the girls tried to forget about the past meets. Once again however, bars got the best of us and we were forced to count a fall. Moving on to beam, we put bars behind us and focused on the next event. Beam went well, but for the first time this year we had to count a fall. It's hard to come off bars and beam counting falls and do well on floor, but that's just what we did. Floor went very well and performing at home is so much fun!

We finished the meet with a win, which is always fun, but we immediately started focusing on what to fix in the gym for next week. Nebraska's going to be a tough test, as they are always a rock solid team, but we're looking forward to the challenge. We'll be studying hard for this test and hopefully we'll ACE it! Come out to Hearnes this Friday, Jan. 28 at 7:00 p.m., to watch us compete against the Huskers. We love a big crowd!!
