Stillwater, Okla.--Playing on the back of a tremendous come-from-behind victory over Oklahoma on Friday, the Mizzou Tigers were unable to maintain their momentum against Oklahoma State falling to the Cowgirls 3-1. The loss brings Mizzou to a 4-5-1 season record, with a 1-1 Big 12 Conference mark.

Coming off its double overtime victory against Oklahoma, Missouri showed fatigue during the first half giving up a goal early. Cowgirl Jere Boykin, slid a ground ball through the Mizzou 18 yard box to forward Jolene Schweitzer. Goalkeeper Laura Buehrig was there to make a sliding save, but in the resulting collision with Sweitzer the ball was knocked from Buehrig's grip and Schweitzer was able to tap the ball over the MU goal line.

Missouri reemerged in the second half quickly evening out the playing field scoring a goal of its own. Pressuring OSU from the kickoff, the Tigers earned a cornerkick. Lauren Grice launched the ball into the Cowgirl penalty box where the ball was sent back out. Grice recollected the ball and sent it back into the center where defender Ashley Gibbs slammed the game-tier.

The Tigers' jubilation was short lived however, as Mizzou gave up a second Cowgirl goal just a few minutes later. Nikki Wojtowicz slammed a shot from around 25 yards out. The ball hit the crossbar and bounced back into the MU penalty area where Adriane Radtke was ran up to head in Oklahoma State's second goal. Contesting the call, claiming Radtke was offsides when she took her shot , Mizzou Coach Bryan Blitz was yellow carded.

Further objections were made concerning OSU's third goal. Lobbing a ball up to Bokin inside the Mizzou defensive third, the Missouri defensive line was pulled forward giving Bokin a one-on-one opportunity against Buehrig. Despite a valiant effort to defend, Bokin dribbled the ball around the goalkeeper to score unassisted. Although the goal was also contested as due to an overlooked offsides infraction, the goal was counted official.

The Tigers resume Big 12 action with a four game home stand next week. Missouri hosts Nebraska on Fri., Oct. 1 at 7:00 p.m., and faces Colorado on Sun., Oct. 3 at 1:00 p.m. Missouri home games are played in Audrey J. Walton Stadium. Tickets are available at the stadium on game day or by calling the Mizzou Ticket Office at 884-PAWS.
