Lexington, Ky.--The Missouri dropped a 1-0 loss to Kentucky taking their season record to 2-4-1. The Tigers are now 0-1-1 against the Wildcats.
Kentucky put itself on the board scoring midway through the first period. Taking a shot from the top of the penalty area, Callie Lanphier launched a ball into the Tiger net. The goal rallied the Wildcats offense to slam the Mizzou goal with a barrage of attacks. The Tiger defensive line held its ground however to keep Kentucky's accuracy skewed.
Despite valiant efforts by the Mizzou offense, including two close corner kick plays, the Tigers were unable to score during the game. Keeping the Wildcats subdued, goalkeeper Laura Buehrig played aggressively making two saves during the first half and eight in the second.
Missouri plays its final non-conference opponent on Sun., Sept. 19 when it hosts Loyola-Chicago at Audrey J. Walton Soccer Stadium at 1:00 p.m. The Tigers jump into Big 12 Conference action next weekend traveling to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
