COLUMBIA, Mo. - University of Missouri men's golf coach Tim Robyn has resigned from his position effective Friday, May 28, athletic department officials announced today.
Associate Director of Athletics Ed Stewart said that the University will conduct a national search to identify Robyn's successor.
"Coach Robyn and I met this morning, and he felt it was time for him to resign to pursue other opportunities," Stewart said. "We appreciate his six years of service to the athletic department, particularly the continued competitive and academic improvement of our teams during this time. He has served as a tremendous role model to his student-athletes, as well as an ambassador for the University. We are sorry to see him leave, but we wish him and his family well."
Robyn, who completed his sixth season at the helm of the program last week at the Big 12 Conference Championships, is credited for recruiting some of the state's top amateur talent to Columbia. That list includes two-time Missouri State Amateur Champion Mark McBride, who was the state's first back-to-back winner since Tom Watson in 1970-71. Just two years ago, Robyn's recruiting efforts resulted in a fifth-place finish at the Big 12 tournament - MU's best showing since the formation of the league in 1996 and best overall since 1988.
