Missouri scored 10 runs in the first three innings - capped by a grand slam homer by first baseman Cody Ehlers as the Tigers returned the favor with a 12-1, seven-inning run-rule of the Baylor Bears in a game that was delayed twice by rain.

Last year, Baylor run-ruled the Tigers 11-0 in the opening round of the tournament at SBC Bricktown Ballpark. The 10-run rule was adopted before the start of last year's tournament.

Ehlers blasted his 16th home run of the season - a grand slam into the right center field bullpen to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead off starting pitcher Sean Walker.

The grand slam by Ehlers was the first since Texas Tech's Jake Brown blasted one in the 2002 tournament - also at Ameriquest Field in Arlington. The only other grand slam in the tournament was by Ryan Hubele of Texas against Texas Tech in 2000.

The five runs batted in by Ehlers fell one short of the tournament record of six in a game - last set by Jake Bollig of Oklahoma State against Iowa State in 2001. The four runs driven in was the fourth time a person had driven in four runs in an inning. The last to do that was Brown.

Game was stopped at 6:03 p.m. due to rain with the count 1-2 with 2 out on Missouri's James Boone. The game resumed at 9:13 after a 3 hour, 10 minute rain delay - the longest in Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament history.

The Ameriquest Field in Arlington ground crew covered the field in 1 minute and 20 seconds after pulling the tarp container from its position on the third base line.

A second rain delay occurred at 9:44 p.m. and lasted for 28 minutes. The Tigers had scored three times in the top of the third with the count 3-1 with 2 outs at the time of the second stoppage. The total time of the two delays was 3 hours, 38 minutes - a Big 12 Tournament record.

With the second delay, the ground crew covered the field quicker - this time in 1 minute, 5 seconds.

Missouri pitcher Danny Hill tied the Big 12 Tournament record with four consecutive strikeouts with two batters in the third and two more in the fourth. The last time was by Shane Komine of Nebraska against Oklahoma State in 2001 and Monty Ward of Texas Tech against Baylor in 1998.

Baylor's Paul Witt broke the tournament record for double-play participation with his sixth double play of the tournament. He had three in Wednesday's game against Texas Tech at second base, one in this game at second and two more at shortstop. The old record was 5, set last by Texas' Omar Quintanilla and Missouri's Ehlers in last year's tournament. It was also set by Charlie Frasier of Oklahoma in the 2002 tournament.

Baylor scored their lone run in the bottom of the fifth on a single by Chase Gerdes.

Actual time of play was 2 hours and 17 minutes. Total time with the delays figured in was 5 hours and 55 minutes.

Missouri improves its Big 8/Big 12 tournament record to 31-46 and it is the first time in Big 12 Tournament play that Missouri has won its first two games of the tournament.

Baylor falls to 27-26 in SWC/Big 12 tournament play.
