Missouri Quotes
Head Coach Tim Jamieson
"With this being the first game it was a big win especially the way we battled. I am really proud of our effort."
"The difference between now and when we played them in the season was today we got the walks and the hits. We needed to create offense behind the walks and we put the ball in play at the right times."
On the Oklahoma rally:
"That was a big thing. In the game of baseball you have to have momentum and Oklahoma did. It was big for us to come back like that."
Pitcher Garrett Broshuis
On getting his 10th win:
"Obviously it feels good especially in the opening of the tournament. At the beginning of the year I tried to think on being consistent."
On seventh inning:
"Unfortunately I had an error. It was not really a bad pitch, but he hit the first fast ball. What is important is that we came out with the lead."
On the feeling of the game:
"With some of the players being sick it brings adversity, adversity that we did not really need. Our team is playing well right now. We are hitting very well. I cannot say enough about our offense."
Left Fielder Ryan Rallo
On his hurt knee:
"It is sore right now. Hopefully it is just a bruise. I will be ready to play tomorrow."
Oklahoma Quotes
Head Coach Larry Cochell
Opening Statement....
"Obviously we did not pitch too well today. This is one of the worst performances we have had in a long time. We had a chance to make a run at them with the ball that was hit out to right field. We had them close at six to five, but then we walked a guy. We didn't pitch today and we had a couple of guys that were caught. We had several missed opportunities, and obviously that hurt us. We weren't doing well today offensively and obviously we did not pitch well."
On past experiences catching MU from behind...
"We thought we had them there for a little bit because of our momentum. We have been struggling offensively and talked about just getting on top of the baseball. We had the momentum and we had a chance to come back, but it just did not happen. It was probably a game of luck. If you are going to win ballgames, you have to realize what is happening. What was happening is that David (Purcey) gave up two hits on 0-2 counts. That was bad management on my part and I should have taken him out earlier. He has not pitched like that in a long time. He has been a strike thrower. If I had taken him out earlier then it would have given us a better chance to win the ballgame. We started off well, but as the game progressed we just really played real timid."
Junior Pitcher David Purcey
On today's performance...
"I think I put too much pressure on myself to do too much. I did not have a good feel for my curve ball and I could not get my fast ball over in the first inning. I just had trouble getting my pitches over for strikes and obviously that is what it takes to be successful."
Senior Pitcher Casey Brown
On his performance...
"I went in there and tried to stabilize the game. That is my job, and I did the best I could."
