Tigers Finish 2nd at Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout Three Tigers finish in top 15
Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's golf squad shot the best team round of the day on Sunday, firing a 303 en route to a second place finish in the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout with a score of 909. Mizzou has finished in the Top 3 in six of its eight tournaments played so far this season including two first place finishes.
"We played really solid golf this weekend," head coach Stephanie Cooper said. " I was really happy with our kids focus and I thought we continued to be aggressive."
Junior Maria Ohlsson finished off a solid tournament, finishing in fifth place with a final round of 74 and a tourney total of 224. Ohlsson has finished in the Top 5 in four tournaments so far this season including three Top 5 finishes in the last four tournaments. Sophomore Denise Knaebel and junior Mindy Bullard also finished in the top 15. Knaebel finished eighth with a total of 228 while Bullard turned in her best round of the tournament with a 75 and a three-round total of 231 (T-12th).
Sophomore Kelli Strubinger and freshman Stephanie Wavro finished tied for 38th with a total of 238. Wavro fired the second best round of her spring season with a 76 after shooting rounds of 79 and 83 in the opening two rounds.
The Tigers will take the next two weeks to practice and prepare for the IU Women's Invitational on April 2-3 in Bloomington, IN. For more information on Tiger women's golf, log on to www.mutigers.com.
