#39 Mizzou improved to 3-0 on the year with a 5-2 win over 50th-ranked Tulsa University to give the Golden Hurricanes their first loss of the year. After tight doubles matches, the Tigers clinched the doubles point. In a key matchup at #1 doubles, the #30th-ranked pair of Urska Juric and Katka Sevcikova closed out #22-ranked Illona Somers and Daniela Muscolino 9-7. The Tigers then took control of the dual by winning four of six singles. Mary Barry played a brave match at #5, overcoming deficits in each set for a comeback win over Tulsa's Santie Delport.
"While everyone played solid tonight, we were really proud of the manner in which Mary fought back after disappointing doubles", said head coach Blake Starkey. "She has so much character, and showed it."
Newcomer Yelena Olshanskaya pleased the home crowd by overcoming stomach pain and beating Tulsa's Timberly Greenly at #4 singles.
