Q. Several schools pursued you four years ago. What made you decide to come to Mizzou?
A. The players were the biggest factor in my decision. Coach Bryan Blitz doesn't only recruit great players; he also recruits great people.
Q. How has the soccer program changed since your freshman year?
A. We've improved tremendously and gained the respect of other teams. We've raised our standards, and now we aspire to be great instead of settling for being good. That's what we strive for every day in practice.
Q. How have you improved individually since your first year on the team?
A. I'm definitely in better shape than I was my freshman year, and that makes playing soccer a lot easier.
Q. To what or whom do you attribute the growth you've accomplished as a player?
A. I think it comes from within, because if you're not willing to grow, no one can do it for you. My team and the coaching staff have helped, but in the end it is all up to you.
Q. This year you've had a standout season, leading the Tigers' defense with your exceptional play. How has this year been different from those in the past?
A. I think I've been more prepared. After 4 years of collegiate soccer, there isn't much that can happen on the field that I haven't seen or experienced.
Q. What do you think is your greatest asset as a defender?
A. My greatest asset is my ability to read the game.
Q. How does the mentality of a defender have to be different from that of an offensive player?
A. As a defender you need to have a "warrior" mentality to shut your opponents down and keep them from scoring.
Q. What is your favorite memory from your time on the soccer team?
A. Our come-from-behind victory over Texas A&M last year. (The Tigers beat the Aggies 5-4 in overtime.)
Q. What are you going to miss most about being a member of the Tigers?
A. I'm going to miss being a member of the team and competing.
Q. What are your plans after graduation?
A. I plan to move back to Texas and get a job.
