James Boone Named Big 12 Player of the Week

Missouri sophomore rightfielder James Boone has been selected as the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Boone was 10-for-15 at the Easton/USA Challenge last weekend in Millington, Tenn. helping the Tigers claim the tournament title.

Boone had two doubles, two RBI, stole two bases, scored two runs, had a slugging percentage of .800 and an on base percentage of .772 in the four games over the weekend.

He opened the tournament with a 4-for-5 performance against Wake Forest on Friday. He followed that with two hits in each of the next three games. Boone was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored against Indiana State. He then went 2-for-3 against Memphis and was 2-for-4 with a run scored against Tennessee-Martin.

For the season, Boone leads the Tigers with a .383 batting averages with seven extra base hits (five doubles, one triple and one home run) and 11 RBI.

The Tigers (15-3-1) return home on Wednesday to face Illinois State at 4 p.m. at Taylor Stadium before hosting Chicago State for a three-game series this weekend.
