COLUMBIA, Mo. - Fieldhouse records fell, Holly Scherder takes back the school record in the women's weight throw, and Christian Cantwell extends his world's longest throw of 2004 with his indoor personal best at Friday's Tiger Classic hosted by the University of Missouri. The Tigers hosted Big 12 foe Nebraska, Indiana, and Wichita State in the four-team meet.

Six Hearnes Center Fieldhouse records fell at the meet. Indiana claimed two of the records as Courtney Johnson took the 60-meter hurdle record and Ara Towns broke the 60-meter dash mark. Former Nebraska Cornhusker Krisztina Kovesi broke the record in the women's triple jump and the 'Huskers Becky Breisch broke the women's shot put fieldhouse record. Nebraska's Jenny Green, who holds the best mark in the NCAA, broke the fieldhouse women's pole vault record held by Tiger Jennifer Bennett by a centimeter with a vault of 13 feet, 7? inches (4.15m).

The highlight of the meet came from current undergraduate assistant, seven-time All-American Christian Cantwell (Eldon, Mo,). The former Tiger broke his own fieldhouse record and carded an indoor personal-best with a throw of 69 feet (21.03m). Cantwell came into the meet holding the world's best throw of the year after throwing for 68 feet, 3? inches at the Missouri Invitational two weeks ago. Cantwell moves on to the historic Millrose Games held in New York's Madison Square Garden next weekend.

Senior Holly Scherder (Frankford, Mo.) broke the Missouri women's weight throw record for the third time this year, reclaiming the record from her roommate Ann Snider (Harrisonville, Mo.). Snider finished third on Friday broke the record two weeks ago on her final attempt at the Missouri Invitational after Scherder broke Brooke Ennen's record just 30 minutes earlier. Scherder, throwing for 60 feet, 5? inches, became the first Tiger to eclipse the 60-foot mark in the event.

Sophomore Chris Horn (O'Fallon, Mo.) continues to improve upon his personal bests. Horn won the men's long jump event with a mark of 23 feet, 1? inches. Winning last week's 3000-meter run, junior Serena Ramsey (Waukesha, Wis.) took another title after finishing first in the mile run with a time of 4:56.29, a personal best.

Former Tiger Ann Marie Schwabe (Brooks) qualified for the USA Track & Field Indoor Championships in the 3000-meter run with her winning time of 9:20.82.

Several Tigers took event titles including freshman Tipper O'Brien (Kirkwood, Mo.) who took the race in the Mile run (4:18.40). Junior Neville Miller (St. Louis, Mo.) continues his dominance in the middle-distance races with a win in the 600-yard run with a time of 1:12.78. Sophomore Ashley Patten (Clarkston, Mich.) took the gold in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:13.34, freshman Allison Werner took first in the 1000-meter run (2:56.42), and junior transfer and NCAA provisional qualifier Conrad Woolsey was the top collegian in the men's shot put with a mark of 59 feet, 3? inches. Junior Jesse Sims (Paola, Kan.) tied Nebraska's Aaron Plas in the high jump event, leaping for 6 feet, 10? inches.

The Tigers will take their first road trip of the season with at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational. Action begins next Friday with the combined events; the rest of the meet program will take place on Saturday. For more information log on to mutigers.com.
