LAKELAND, Fla. - Senior Michael Radek (Chicago, Ill. / St. Ignatius HS) fired a second-round 67 in the afternoon round of the first day of the Matlock Collegiate Classic Monday, as the Missouri men's golf team resumed its 2004 Spring schedule at the Grasslands Golf and Country Club.

Radek's 5-under-par closing 18 put him in a four-way tie for seventh place at the Matlock after an opening-round 76 Monday morning.

As a team, Mizzou is in eighth place at 16-over 592 (304-288), just seven strokes out of third. Although the Tigers stumbled out of the gate - freshman Trent Twaddle (Maryville, Mo. / Maryville HS) was MU's low-rounder in the morning with a 74 - the team fought back with the third-best round of the afternoon session.

Among the rest of the Tiger individuals, sophomore Ben Scott (Lancashire, U.K.) carded rounds of 76 and 73 to tie for 31st; Twaddle finished with a 76 to stand at 150 in a tie for 35th; senior David Jenkins (Springfield, Mo. / Glendale HS / SMS) came back from a disappointing morning 82 - just his second round in the 80s in 15 rounds this year - to fire an even-par 72 in the afternoon to put him in a tie for 57th; and freshman John Kelly (St. Louis, Mo. / Christian Brothers College HS) shot 78-77-155 to tie for 62nd after the first two rounds.

Memphis fired an aggregate 5-under 283 in the afternoon round for the day's low team compilation, putting those Tigers at even-par 576, good for a five-stroke lead over Division II Georgia College & State. Kansas State is in fourth, just six strokes ahead of Mizzou.

The 18-hole final round begins at 8 a.m. EST on Tuesday.
