COLUMBIA, Mo. - Former Kansas State guard Tiffany Brooks (Leavenworth, Kan. / Leavenworth HS) has transferred to the University of Missouri and will play women's basketball for the Tigers, Head Coach Cindy Stein announced today.
Brooks, who averaged 2.0 points and 0.8 rebounds in four games as a freshman in K-State's fall semester, has enrolled in classes at MU and will sit out the next two semesters under NCAA transfer guidelines. She will be eligible at the conclusion of Mizzou's fall semester in December of 2004, and may begin practicing immediately.
The 5-foot-11 Brooks earned two all-state nods at Leavenworth HS under coach Stacey (Walker) Cole, who played for Stein at Emporia State. Brooks averaged 18.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 3.0 steals per game her senior year at Leavenworth. She was first-team All-Sunflower League all three of her prep years, and was a 2002 Street & Smith's All-America honorable mention selection.
"Tiffany is a terrific athlete with good speed, quickness and explosiveness," Stein said. "She is a slasher-type player who will also fit in well with our style of offense and defense. We are very excited to have this opportunity to welcome an outstanding young lady and quality student-athlete like Tiffany."
