COLUMBIA, Mo. - MU's Tennis Team experienced little trouble in defeating the Saint Louis Billikens on Thursday at the Green Tennis Center. The Tigers completely mixed up all their doubles combinations and also played without impact newcomer Hana Kraftova, who missed due today's action due to a class that could not be missed. For the first time in several matches, MU completely swept all doubles action. MU then went on to win all six singles matches convincingly.
"Going into today, coach felt we were stronger," said MU junior Urska Juric. "But he also really challenged us to concentrate, and play to our level each game, and not anyone elses. He said if you can win each game, then you should win each game. We all won big, but the challenge helped keep us focused."
"Mary, in particular, played great today," said Starkey. "While she has struggled some lately, she has been very close in a lot of matches against some really good players. She played a complete match today, and I was happy for her."
The Tigers are off this weekend, and take to the road next weekend for matches against Tulsa, Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma. The following weekend, the Tigers will play their final two home matches of the year against Iowa State and Texas prior to the Big XII Championships. Kristina Olshanskaya will be featured in the final weekend as she plays her final home matches as a Tiger
