Q: Where did you grow up, and what was it like there?
A: I grew up in Prague, Czech Republic. I spent most of my time playing tennis, and going to school. I enjoyed it a lot, and I have only good memories from that time.
Q: When you're not practicing your game, how do you spend the remainder your time?
A:I like to hang out with my friends, go for trips and just have fun and relax. I'm interested in music, books and well-done movies. I also play other sports if I have time, mostly skiing, biking and swimming.
Q: Why did you choose to come to the University of Missouri?
A: I liked the school when I took my recruiting visit. It has pretty campus and is a good school academically. Also, it has friendly people and a very good tennis program.
Q: What did you decide to major in, and what do you plan on doing after graduation?
A: I was hesitant with choosing my major for a long time, and then I ended up doing international studies, with emphasis on European studies. I'm not really sure what I want to do after graduation. I'd like to go back home, maybe get my masters degree, and try to play some tennis tournaments. I'll see how it goes.
Q: Who has been your biggest inspiration for all that you have accomplished, and why?
A: I would have to say my parents. We have been through a lot together, and they've always been there for me, which was really great. I am lucky to have them.
Q: Who is your favorite tennis player?
A: It used to be Pete Sampres, but now since he is retired it's kind of hard for me to choose new one. I like to watch Agassi and Henin play.
Q: How do you describe yourself, as a person, and as a part of the MU tennis team?
A: I'm pretty quite laid back person, and very emotional. However, I like to keep the tough look on the outside and don't show my emotions much.
As a part of a team, I try to make a positive contribution and I think I'm a hard worker when it comes to tennis. And over the years here I've learned how to be a team player, and feel pretty comfortable around all girls on the team. It's just good times overall.
Q: What is your most anticipated game for this season and why?
A: I'm looking forward to every match I'll play. But, I definitely like the conferences matches more than the rest of them, just because the competition is really high and everybody is trying to beat everybody.
Q: What team or particular player, do you feel is going to be the biggest challenge to you in this upcoming season?
A: Myself!
Q: What do you expect from yourself as a player in the 2003-2004 season, are there any improvements that you have been working on?
A: It's not so much about my game improvements, but I'd like to work on my mental toughness and concentration more, to play smarter tennis. I think that would make me a much stronger tennis player, and if I can do this the results will come. I expect to give everything I have to every much, and enjoy myself during the game.
Q: Can you give us some of your speculation of the upcoming season, including which player or players you feel will be most valuable to the team?
A: It's soon to tell. But I think all of us have improved in a way, plus we've got two good freshmen and they will be definitely valuable to the team. I think this season our team is stronger and more balanced. I think all of us are capable of big things, and if we all show up at the same day we'll be really good as a team.
