The Missouri volleyball team earned its fourth consecutive bid to the NCAA Tournament, as announced on Sunday night. Mizzou will open up postseason play on Friday in Los Angeles against UC-Irvine. The winner of the MU-UC-Irvine match will face the winner of UCLA and San Diego on Saturday.
The Tigers finished the regular season with a 19-10 record and a 12-8 Big 12 Conference mark. UC-Irvine was 23-9 on the year and 12-6 in the Big West Conference. It closed out the regular season by winning seven of its last eight matches.
UCLA is the host school for the Tigers' first and second round matches. UCLA finished the year 21-8 and are the No. 8 seed in the 64-team field. Its first-round opponent is San Diego, who finished with a 17-12 record during the regular season.
Mizzou advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2000, 2001 and 2002. Last season, the recorded its first postseason win in school history by defeating Northwestern in the opening round of the tournament in Cedar Falls, Iowa before falling to Northern Iowa in the second round. In 2001, MU lost to Illinois in round one and in 2000, Utah knocked out Missouri in the first round.
