Men's Golfers Finish Ninth at Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Freshman John Kelly (St. Louis, Mo. / Christian Brothers College HS) fired his second-straight even-par round to lead the University of Missouri men's golf team Sunday at the final round of the Landfall Tradition.

Kelly's 72 put him at 4-over 220 for the tournament, played at the Country Club of Landfall's Nicklaus course. It earned him into a tie for 22nd place.

Senior David Jenkins (Springfield, Mo. / Glendale HS / SMS) shot a final-round 73 to finish at 1-over 217. Jenkins finished it a three-way tied for 15th, marking the first time this season that Jenkins did not finish in the top 10. Minnesota's Justin Smith posted a final-round 65 to earn medalist honors at 8-under 208. He finished two strokes ahead of teammate Ryan Paulson.

As a team, Mizzou shot an aggregate 295, finishing the tournament at 885 to finish ninth. Minnesota closed the weekend with a final-round 280 - the lowest of the tournament - to post a commanding 15-stroke win over Ohio State at 851.

Sophomore Ben Scott (Lancashire, U.K.) closed with a 74 to finish in a tie for 36th at 224; senior Michael Radek (Chicago, Ill. / St. Ignatius HS) fired a 76 at tie for 47th at 227; and sophomore Chris Mabry (Leawood, Kan. / Bishop Miege HS) shot a final-round 80 to place 56th at 232.

The Tigers have now completed their fall competitive schedule, and will resume their spring slate on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 16-17, at the Matlock Invitational in Lakeland, Fla.
