A Look Back
NORMAN, Okla.--
For the fourth time in the last five matches, the Missouri volleyball team went to a fifth a deciding game. After spliting the first four games with Oklahoma, Mizzou was able to win game five and take the 3-2 (35-37, 30-28, 30-23, 20-30, 15-10) win in Norman last Saturday. The Tigers have struggled in the previous three game fives, losing all three. On Saturday, however, it was Missouri who prevailed. A couple Shen Danru kills and a Danru ace gave MU a 6-3 lead in the deciding game. OU cut the lead to one four times but could get not closer. Ahead 9-8, MU took control of the game, scoring six straight points and held game point at 14-8. OU scored back-to-back points before the Tigers could put away the Sooners with a 15-10 win. Mizzou held game point at 29-26 in game one but was unable to seal the deal as Oklahoma came back and eventually took the opening-game win on its fifth game point. Missouri had a four game points but could not get the game clincher. The Tigers tied the match at one with a win in game two, but once again had to deal with a late run by the Sooners before taking the 30-28 victory. Missouri could not get any momentum in the match until midway through game three when it scored eight straight points in the midst of a 10-1 run to build an 18-10 lead. The Tigers went on to the win to take the 2-1 lead in the match. Oklahoma quickly took the momentum away from MU, jumping out to a 13-7 lead and going on to take the 30-20 lead forcing the match to a fifth game. The Tigers then picked up its first win since Oct. 25 with the game five win.
