Women's Swimming & Diving Spring into Top-25 Rankings

Oct. 29, 2003

Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's swimming and teams have once again entered the top-25 ranking as voted on by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. Missouri received 23 votes to be ranked in the top-25, and they coincidentally received a 23rd ranking.

The Missouri women are currently 1-2 on the season after defeating the University of Arkansas but falling to #1 Auburn and #17 Texas A&M.

The CSCAA dual meet poll is voted on by the coaches of collegiate swim teams across the country. The rankings are based on the strength of the teams in dual meet competition.

Several teams that the Tigers will face this season are also ranked in the coaches' poll. The University of Auburn received a first place ranking and conference foes Texas and Texas A&M received votes as Texas is now ranked #6 and A&M is ranked #17, respectively. Other Tiger opponents also made the top-25 rankings as the University of Arizona and the University of Indiana made the list as Arizona is ranked #7 and Indiana received a #14 ranking.

"We are very excited about this ranking. We've been working very hard this season and it's nice to see that other coaches have noticed how we have been doing, but we know that we must continue to improve in order to remain in the top-25," said Missouri Head Coach Brian Hoffer.
