With the Gold Team already having clinched the Fall World Series, the Black squad used a 7-run sixth inning to take the 9-4 win in the fourth and final game of the Fall World Series. The win was the first for Black in the series.
Black took the early lead by scoring a run in the top of the first and adding a second in the fourth inning. Gold scored its first run in the bottom of the fourth.
The Black team broke things open in the top of the sixth with most of its seven runs coming with two outs after an error by Gold.
James Boone led off the sixth with a single, followed by Cosme Caballero's double to left. Boone, who advanced to third on Caballero's double, scored on a sacrifice by John McKee. Caballero would score on an error on a pickoff play at third base.
After a strikeout for the second out of the inning, Brandon Patek would walk. Tyler Williams followed with a single and Chaz Ebert reached after being hit by a pitch. Zane Taylor then singled to drive in both Williams and Patek and move Ebert up to third.
Lee Laskowski capped off the inning with a three-run home run over the fence in left field. Laskowski was 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored on the night. Taylor and Boone also each had three hits for the Black in Game 4.
Dustin Wernecke pitched six innings for Black, allowing just one run on only two hits.
Gold scored three runs in the eighth to get with in five, but would not get any closer. Matthew Stallings pitched 3.1 innings of shutout ball for Gold in relief, allowing just two hits.
After clinching the series on Monday night, Gold was officially named the Fall World Series winner with the 3-1 series win.
